Kids Events at the Fair

These are FREE events. Registration and fair admission is required.

Stick Pony Rodeo: Monday 7/22/24

Put on your best western attire and come on out to participate in this action packed rodeo event. Children ages 5-10 are eligible to compete. The Stick Horse Rodeo features Barrel Racing!!!

All entries are subject to the Greene County Fair General Rules and Regulations. The Greene County Fair will offer a Stick Horse Rodeo. That is, a complete rodeo performance that is a simulation of a real live rodeo with the cowboys and cowgirls riding stick horses. The Stick Horse Rodeo will last for one hour for each age group. Each child from the age group will give it a go.

Barrel Racing: The miniature barrels (3) are set up in the arena in a cloverleaf pattern. The rider must come into the arena and run their horse around each barrel in a cloverleaf pattern without knocking them over and then back to the alley with great speed as this is a timed event. A five second penalty is assessed for each barrel knocked over or missed. Drawing of the pattern is below. Fastest time wins.

This race is designed as an unusual spectator attraction. Every entrant is subject to the following rules and regulation in the interest of safety and equal competition. Kids will race others in their age group around a track of hay bales!

Power Wheels Demo Derby: Wednesday 7/24/24

The Derby is designed as an unusual spectator attraction. Every entrant is subject to the following rules and regulation in the interest of safety and equal competition. The Greene County Fair does not imply or guarantee safety. Total responsibility for the inspection of the car and rule compliance is by the owner/driver, not the Greene County Fair.

This is supposed to be FUN for the kids, parents PLEASE don’t ruin it for them!

Driver’s Rules

Judges can rule that children won’t participate if there are modifications to the car more than those allowed that are stated below!
Kids 5-10 years of age may participate. ALL kids must be accompanied by an adult.
All drivers must supply their own car and set it up according to the rules.
When choosing a Power Wheels for your child, please keep in mind these vehicles will be running into each other (like bumper cars or derby cars). The Power Wheels needs to be the kind the child sits IN, not ON. And they need to be seat belted INTO the car. No 4-WHEELERS, TRACTORS, MOTORCYCLES! Must be a vehicle they sit IN, not ON.
Driver only, NO passengers
Derby is limited to 6 to 12-volt power wheels ONLY. No connecting multiple batteries together. (This makes the power wheel move too fast, and makes it unsafe)
A seatbelt is recommended but not required.
No added reinforcements for strength.
All doors and tailgates must be strapped shut. No sharp edges. Use zip ties or duct tape (or other flexible products) to make them stay shut.
Stock tires only. No screws in tires, no chains, etc.
Vehicles may NOT be raised or lowered. They must be the stock height that came from the store.
The vehicle is allowed to have UP TO a 12-volt lawn mower or motorcycle battery. Battery cannot be mounted in the passenger seat, and the battery must be secured and sealed away from the child.
Decorative changes can be made to the Power Wheels to make it look like a derby car; however, there can be no reinforcement to the Power Wheels. Changes and additions can ONLY be decorative. i.e.: header pipes sticking up, painting the car, etc.
Helmets are mandatory; bicycle helmet are permitted
Shoes or sneakers required. NO sandals.
Any situation that arises, Chairman has the power to add or change rules as required. If it isn’t in the rules, it doesn’t make it legal.
All entries must be on the Greene County Fairgrounds by 2 PM for inspection.
All Children must have a signed consent form from a parent or guardian and will be available the day of the event.
This event is free HOWEVER Everyone must pay at the gate for entry to the fair.

2024 EXHIBITOR/PARTICIPANT GREENE COUNTY FAIR RELEASE OF LIABILITY AND INDEMNITY AGREEMENT In consideration, the receipt and sufficiency of which is hereby acknowledged, for being allowed entry into and participation in activities (the “Activities”) associated with the Greene County Fair, the undersigned hereby enters into this RELEASE OF LIABILITY AND INDEMNITY AGREEMENT (this “Agreement”) as of the date set forth below.

1. ACKNOWLEDGMENT OF RISKS: The undersigned recognizes and understands that there are risks associated with their participation in the Activities including, but not limited to, bodily injury or death to persons and damage to property. The undersigned further acknowledges and understands that they will be held liable and responsible for any and all damage to persons, livestock, vehicles, property and/or improvements to property that is caused by them and/or any persons (including, but not limited to, minors) under their care and control, and that arise out of, or are related to, the undersigned’s entry into and participation in the Activities.

2. APPLICABILITY AND SCOPE OF RELEASES AND INDEMNITIES: For purposes of this Agreement, “Claims” shall mean any past, present and future claims, losses, costs, expenses, liabilities, demands, or causes of action, and costs of defense or settlement (including, without limitation, attorneys’ fees and court costs) associated with or relating to or arising out of the Activities. The releases, waivers, and indemnities contained in this Agreement expressly shall apply regardless of whether the Claims to be released, waived, or indemnified against arise, or are alleged to arise, from (i) NEGLIGENCE (WHETHER SOLE, JOINT OR CONCURRENT), GROSS NEGLIGENCE, NEGLIGENCE PER SE, and/or STRICT LIABILITY, of the Fort Bend County Fair Association or its present and former officers, directors, members, subsidiaries, affiliates, employees, volunteers, staff, and/or agents and any other person, firm, or corporation bound to defend or pay judgments against them (the “Released Parties”); (ii) personal injury, death or property damage; (iii) acts under the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act (“DTPA”); (iv) acts of any other persons or guests; (v) theft, burglary, assault, or other crimes; (vi) fire, water, wind, rain and/or smoke and/or (vii) any other risks and hazards associated with the undersigned’s entry into and participation in the Activities, including, but not limited to, the general conditions at the Activities, animals both wild and domestic that may be diseased and/or potentially dangerous, persons with firearms both on and off the premises used in connection with the Activities, and the driving or riding in any vehicles, whether belonging to Released Parties or to other persons.

3. RELEASE FROM LIABILITY: The undersigned hereby RELEASES, ACQUITS AND FOREVER DISCHARGES, and WAIVES any and all Claims against any of the Released Parties that arise from or relate to their entry and participation in the Activities—including, but not limited to, the types of claims enumerated in Paragraph 2—and agrees not to sue any of the Released Parties for such Claims. Without limiting the foregoing, the undersigned agrees that the Released Parties shall not be liable to them, their family, or their guests, for personal injury, property damage, or any other Claims arising from or related to the undersigned’s entry into and participation in the Activities.

4. AGREEMENT TO INDEMNIFY AND HOLD HARMLESS: The undersigned agrees to INDEMNIFY and HOLD HARMLESS the Released Parties against any and all Claims arising from or related to the undersigned’s entry and participation in the Activities—including, but not limited to, the types of Claims enumerated in Paragraph 2. In addition, and without limiting the foregoing, the undersigned agrees to INDEMNIFY the Released Parties for any Claims for injuries to any minors under their care and control and/or his or her parent/guardian, and for any Claims asserted by, through or under the undersigned, arising from or related to the undersigned’s entry into and participation in the Activities—including, but not limited to, the types of Claims enumerated in Paragraph 2. As used herein, “INDEMNIFY” means to agree to assume the Released Parties’ liability in a situation, thereby relieving them of responsibility, and/or reimbursing the Released Party for Claims asserted against them.

5. PHOTOGRAPH/INTERVIEW RELEASE AND INDEMNITY AGREEMENT: The undersigned GRANTS PERMISSION to be PHOTOGRAPHED or INTERVIEWED in connection with the Activities. The undersigned understands that any such photograph or interview may be used by the Released Parties or television, film, video, visual, graphic or printed media. The undersigned agrees to RELEASE and INDEMNIFY the Released Parties with respect to any Claims related to the usage of such photographs or interviews by the Released Parties or any media —including, but not limited to, the types of Claims enumerated in Paragraph 2. As further inducement to the Greene County Fair Association to permit the undersigned’s entry into and participation in the Activities, the undersigned represents that they thoroughly and completely understand that this is a complete and final release and indemnity agreement, that they are freely and voluntarily entering into this Agreement, and that no representations, promises or statements made by any Released Party, or any agent, attorney or other representative of any Released Party has influenced the undersigned in causing them to sign this Agreement. The undersigned understands that this agreement shall be binding on their heirs, executors, successors and assigns, that the Agreement will be governed by the laws of Tennessee, and that jurisdiction and venue for resolution of any dispute regarding this Agreement shall lie in a Tennessee State Court in Greene County, Tennessee. If any part of this Agreement is determined to be invalid or unenforceable, it does not affect the validity of the remainder of this Agreement. The undersigned agrees to the terms and conditions above, and acknowledges receipt of this Agreement.
