Exhibitor must grow all plants and cut or dried floral material.

No artificial flowers or foliage may be used in the show.

Judging of exhibits shall conform to standards of the national garden club and American rose society.  Judging shall be based on the following point scale:

Exhibitor will be expected to know into which class and Lot each entry should be made.

Entries shall be disqualified for not meeting specifications of lot description.

Correct botanical and generally accepted common names shall accompany plants on a 3 x 5 index card. Picks, cards and reference books will be available at entry desk.

Plants that have won 3 Blue Ribbons or "Best of Class" at the Greene County Fair should not be entered for judging.

Plants should be in clean, appropriate type and size container. Plants should be groomed before entry.


PARTICIPATION AWARD

 Each entry into Class 1 (Cut and Dried Floral Design) and Class 2 (Plant Material) will receive 5 points.

 Each entry into Class 3 (Educational Exhibit) will receive 20 points.

 Each entry into Class 4 (Roses) and Class 5 (Cut Annuals and Perennials) will receive 2 points.

 Each 1st Place will receive 3 points.

 Each 2nd Place will receive 2 points.

 Each 3rd Place will receive 1 point.

 Each “Best of Class” will receive 10 points.

 Entries deemed unworthy of judging will not receive points toward this award.

Exhibitor with the most points will receive $50.

Second place in points will receive $30.

Third place in points will receive $20.


PLANTS AND FLORAL DESIGN

These classes will be received on Saturday, August 6, 2011, from 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. and will be on display the entire week of the fair.

CLASS 1 - Cut & Dried Floral Design

AWARDS: 1st - $5.00; 2nd - $4.00; 3rd - $3.00

Lot 1 -     Cut flower arrangement not to exceed  18” in height, length, or width

Lot 2 -     Cut flower arrangement greater than 18”  in height, length, or width. 

Lot 3 -     Cut floral arrangement to be exhibited in 8 - 12 oz. Mug, suitable for small table, hospital room, or other small space.

Lot 4 -     Dried floral arrangement not to exceed 18” in height, width, or length.

This class is to educate by exhibiting principles, techniques, design, and use of any plant material.  Pre-registration at the fair office for this class is required.  Entries shall be presented on a card table, to be furnished by exhibitor.

These classes will be received on Wednesday, August 10, 2011, from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. and will be on display until the end of the fair.
